Make sure that you are using the current version of Adobe Flash Player. You can verify which version you have installed in any browser by going to the About Flash page.

Note, that there are at least three different versions of Flash plug-ins for these browser types: Internet Exploder, Firefox and Chrome. Further, there is a different flavor for Linux distros.

Yep..same problem w/Firefox and the latest Flash update. Firefox also pushed an update at roughly the same time, so...

Uninstalled..reinstalled. No joy.

You should empty your cache when you close Firefox. This optional setting removes temporary pages, including Flash objects that may have only semi-loaded.

With ff open, go to Tools > Options > Privacy > check "Clear History when Firefox closes" > Settings (cache and whatever else you want cleared every time you close Firefox).

Apply the changes and close the options box, then close Firefox. After you re-open Firefox try to view YouTube videos again. If still no happy happy, reboot compooter. If still no happy happy, boot compooter out of window!

No joy...I guess the computer goes ;-)

No biggie..The latest plugin works swell with IE.

I did clear the error console before loading a video and I get a page full of errors similar to:

Warning: Error in parsing value for 'background-image'. Declaration dropped.
Source File: http://s.ytimg.com/yt/cssbin/www-core-vflJDRXDW.css
Line: 1

I'm only a level 1 geek so this is meaningless to me. :-)

My symptoms are audio (ok) no video and the video screen and progress bar look "funky".

**Update**

If you "pop out" the video (lower right hand corner in tool bar) the new window plays the video just fine. At least it consistently works for me.

**2nd Update**

Go to http://www.youtube.com/swf_test.html . Right click in window and disable hardware acceleration. VOILA!!

Do I graduate to "level 2" now?

This is a "known" bug within the YouTube community.

cheers

h

Wiz , the clear history when firefox closes is not an option for some reason

Huh? Are you using Firefox 3.6.15?

Yes it is 3.6.15
I had to uncheck "start FF in a private browsing session" in order to see the check box..

Let's see what happens...

ok I checked the clear history when ff closes.. closed ff and re started it.. My first video choice on YTube played.. then even one after that was only audio..

I think I will go thru Howard's post and see where it leads me.

Like Howard, I was able to make the video pop out (I just guessed when the button was since I couldn't see it.
Also another problem is that if I ask it to go full screen..it goes blank.

Download Firefox again and save it. Uninstall Firefox 3.6.15, leaving your personal preferences and sign-ons, and reboot. Upon re-windowing, install Firefox anew. Go to Adobe.com and install Flash for Firefox.

See if this helps. If not, try using Google Chrome instead.

Wiz, after unistalling firefox, a reboot and a fresh download .of the latest firefox and the appropriate Flash 10.2.152.32 .
I went directly to youtube.. it played the first video then a white screen again and just audio..
Then I went to the forum to see a link.. same thing.. just a white space and audio .

Bo;
Please see if there is an updated video driver available for your computer make and model. If you recently did upgrade the video driver, especially if you did so via Windows Update, roll it back to the previous driver and reboot. You can also try running System Restore to a date prior to when this video problem manifested itself.
