disc drive is not supported Mac Mini

Post by Bob Hickish »

Mac Mini OS 10.6.6

after installing OS 10.6.6 --- I find the CD/DVD burner in-op -- the following flag pops up.

The disc can’t be used because the disc drive is not supported (error code 0x80020025).

I have no clue == the error code is a mystery == it all worked prior to the OS upgrade

anyone have any Idea

Applications/Utilities/System Profiler. See what it says for disk burning. Might be a clue there. Could be, you need a firmware update. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1237

Again you pointed the right direction -- There is a 10.6.6 update on Apple support downloads - it is recommended that all users of 10.6.6 snow leopard install it -- its a mega file but it corrected the burner problem

thanks again

Now after the up grade the mail don’t work - it does work on my old hand crank Mac with 10.3.9 - I’m not sure the boys at apple have there $#!. together .
I was wondering why I did not receive the notice on post replies -- they were all at the server but no joy downloading to the mini .

DMS In Tennessee -- I’m becoming PMS in Washington --- notice in other thread pending
PS --- The mail gives all indications that it is on line and will send mail

I don't get a lot of notices on post replies from the Forum, and that's on a Gmail acct. Sometimes Apple Mail gets corrupted and you have to select your inbox and the click on Rebuild under the Mailbox menu item at the top. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html ... l1136.html

No mater what I tried I was unable to get the mail box to rebuild -- what I found was , something about the 10.6.6 up date changed the nature of the mail server ( IMAP/POP )
What i had to do is change the server to a POP rather than IMAP . all this time i thought there was something in the computer program setup that I was doing wrong -- anyway -- it all works again --------- does this make sense ? , I really don’t know , all I know is it all works now .

PMS

IMAP means mail is left on your server and you get it there or configure your email client to retrieve it; POP means it comes to your computer and is deleted off the server after a specified time. If you're with BellSouth or Comcast for instance, it'll be POP. If that's any help.
