Animated gifs

Post by Barry Blackwood »

About a year ago, I asked why my gifs "lost" their animation when uploaded to the Forum. Still don't know why. b0b? :?

You might have to upload an animated .gif to some server and put a link to it.

Barry, I'd guess that the Forum software doesn't support animated .gif's.

Support for animated GIFs has come and gone a couple of times. I think it ceased after the last big meltdown of the external drives hosting the images. I'll have to check with the b0bster and get back with y'all.

I have consulted with The Big Cheese and was told this, about animated GIF use on the SGF:

If you upload a gif, the code that adds the forum watermark converts it to JPG and the animation is destroyed.

Small animated gifs can be used as avatars.
