Windows XP

Post by Reggie Duncan »

Setting up my studio backup computer. I reformatted the hard drive and reloaded WinXP from my disk. Will not phone authorize with number provided. Not online. I bought this disk 3 or so years ago so it should authorize. I have tried a few tricks but to no avail..so far. Any help appreciated.

I'll have to check the number...it pops up in a window when I try to authorize.

You can download a torrent file...or a crack file...it seems to work sometimes. I am going to try that.

Be careful with what you download, and from where.
That is how so many people end up getting viruses and malware on their machines.
Is it accepting the Product Activation Code from the
box correctly ?

Phone Microsoft, at the toll free number on the activation screen, and ask to change the product ID code, which will allow reactivation. You'll need the old ID code and you must speak with a humanoid.

Ironically, this is also how so many people learn to be software pirates, when they get fed up jumping through hoops to get something they paid for to work.

People also learn to be software pirates when they pay $300 for an application one month and the next month it its reduced to $99. Been There and Done that. I've been in this game about 25 - 30 years and its really not piracy, Its a war between them and us.
