That is a common mistake most of us make every now and then. A software company offers a great deal on something and people eagerly buy it, only to learn afterwords that it requires a more expensive part A.
Hopefully, somebody here can use the Essentials and will buy them from you. If not, try to get a refund from the company. Tell them why you can't use the program.

I had that same problem. I installed ProTools just to edit some tracks, and it wouldn't work without some sort of interface. So I installed Logic Pro and it works fine.
