Administrator settings
How do I change settings so program install/use will not ask for administrator permission? I am the only user, and there are no user security issues...Thanks BF

What operating system are you using on the computer in question?
What programs are you trying to install that are requesting Administrator credentials?
Have you installed versions of this/these programs on the same computer without being asked for Administrator credentials?
What about installs on previous operating systems?
The reason I asked all these questions is to Grok if this is an All Users installation issue, and if you are using XP, Vista, or Windows 7. Each has its own peculiarities.
I operate as an XP Professional Power User and a lot of programs I want to install demand that I Run As an Administrator to install or upgrade them. This has to do with the program needing permission to write files to All Users and to the System folders, and to the Local Machine branch of the Windows Registry. A Standard or Power user cannot do those things.
If you are using Vista or Windows 7, you may think you are the Administrator, but you most definitely are not. Administrator is a hidden account with God privileges. Your user account, although a member of the Administrators Group, has fewer privileges. This is by design and is for your protection.

Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2
According to Belarc Adviser, Adm Privilege is disabled. I installed Spybot, and it would not correct all problems found without Adm. privileges. This program worked fine on XP Pro.
Apologizes for the lack of info, thanks..Bill

Alter the desktop icon for each program that complains, so it opens using the Run As Administrator option. This is a right click option for links to programs.Bill Ford wrote:Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2

You're welcome Bill!Bill Ford wrote:hey Wiz, You are da man,
Did as you said, started as Adm. and ran a restart scan as instructed by Spybot. System is running better, programs loading faster.
Thanks a bunch..Bill
