Backups?

Post by Peter den Hartogh »

There was a previous post explaining the locations from where to back up Outlook files and browser files.
I believe there was also a link to Microsoft describing these details.

Could anybody post a link to this thread again? Thanks in advance.

I don't know about your browser, but here are 63 google hits on backing up Outlook:

Come to think of it, what do you mean by backing up a browser?? Why would you ever need to do that?

Do you mean back up bookmarks or favorites?

Peter;
What operating system are you using on your computer? If Windows XP or newer, there is a built-in backup utility that you can schedule to run daily, weekly, etc, backups of your documents, or other folders of your choosing. Use the Backup Wizard to setup the job.

Many of us are using Acronis True Image to backup not only files and settings, but our entire computers.

Thank you, Wiz.
I purchased Acronis 2 days ago and I am still learning it. I backed up the XP machine and I need to DL the help files to show me how to back up other files.
I will also look at the windoze backup version.

Backup in Outlook is too confusing. Just copy the files...

1. create a directory on your hard drive
2. open Outlook and select ALL of the emails
3. drag and drop the emails to the new directory

to restore the files, just drag them back into Outlook. If you want to keep your Deleted emails (or other Outlook folders), you'll need a hard drive directory for each Outlook folder.
