Can you upload just a music file (wav) to Youtube?
I tried but it said cannot process video. How can you upload just the music file?

Thousands or millions of people do, but I don't know the technique.

I'd guess it's very unlikely you can upload a Wave file because they are quite large. Probably gotta convert to another format and maybe jump through some other hoops.

Wav file size wouldn't be any factor in this issue - the most recent video I uploaded to YouTube was nearly 500MB, and the same length .wav file would only be about 75MB. YouTube allows video uploads of up to 2 Gigabytes in size.

I suspect that, given that YouTube exists explicitly for the purpose of video uploads, I bet you can't upload audio files, which would explain the error messages you're getting. Common video formats supported by YouTube appear on their Help page here. Note that no audio file formats appear alone, without an associated video format.

It might be possible to "fool" the system by uploading a "video" with an empty video stream, but YouTube is intended as a video conduit.

Well, yeah, sure, and that makes my point. That's a video. The picture may not move, it's a still image, but the same image appears, as many frames, over and over through the duration of the audio track. By definition, that's a video.

I was answering the original question, which was, "can I upload a .wav file to YouTube?" If it had been "can I upload a video that only consists of an image with an audio track under it?", the answer would have been different.

I think that all of the music only things I have seen on YouTube have a picture or a slideshow displayed to satisfy the video requirements. I believe that Y-T still converts your file into a Flash FLV file, which is a video format.
