Can't Get Rid Of Touch Pad Clicking Sound
I'm using a Dell laptop with windows xp and Internet Explorer. When I click on links with the touch pad I get an annoying clicking sound. I went into the control panel/sounds and audio devices and under the sound tab chose "none" for my sound scheme but I'm still gettin a clickin sound when I use Internet Explorer. Any ideas?

Try using a different browser, like Firefox. It does not make those annoying clicks when links are clicked upon. This event is specific to IE browsers.
There is probably a hidden registry setting to disable the click event blips. Try searching on http://www.annoyances.org/.

I tried these steps to fix the problem but after clicking "apply" and "OK" and closing the window down the sound returns and I find that the sound is again assigned to that event. Not sure what's goin on.
Open the Start Menu / Settings / Control Panel.
Double click on the "Sounds and Multimedia" control panel.
Choose the "Sounds: tab, scroll down in the "Sound Events" window until you reach "Windows Explorer" and under this you will find "Start Navigation".
Click on "Start Navigation" and you will see a .wav file appear in the "Name:" box. This is the sound that is associated with the click sound.
In the "Name:" drop down menu, select (None) and then hit "OK". This will set no sound to be played when you're navigating on the web.

Chrome kicks ass, from what I hear and from my own experience. I like it, and there's a lot of extensions now. And it's fast. It's my main browser now.
