Craig's List Scam - New One?

Post by Gary Baker »

As many of you know - Craig's List has become a land mine of scams. I've seen most of them but just got a new one that LOOKS LIKE an email from CL with a disclamer of useage for CL and then gives you a "link" to go to "if you agree with the terms".

This is NOT CL and will most likely cause you pain and greif.

Bottom line is NEVER click on a link in an email that you do not recognize - even if it LOOKS like an official email from a reputable company. Go to your browser and type in the URL (address) of where you want to go.

Most of you know the "never dos" but this one is pretty slick and if you are not on your toes may trip you up!

Blessings, Bo

Craig List #2

Post by Ray Thomas »

Gary, a couple months ago a popular brand steel guitar was on the list at a good price, I contacted him, said I would like to see the guitar, he emailed back and said it would be a few days before he would get the guitar in and wanted a 500.00 deposit to hold it for me. I told him when he got the guitar in let me know and I would come and see it but would not give a deposit. I never heard from him. Might have been on the up and up but ?????????. The listing was from Charlotte. Be Careful.

Yes, CL seems to get worse by the month.

I have gotten to where I will not respond to email from CL. My listings say " I will ONLY respond to your inquiry by PHONE. So if you are interested email me YOUR phone number and I will respond quickly". That gives me a good idea of where they are from and a tracable way to contact them. Also eliminates the scams (let me count the ways!).

Also, I never ever meet anyone at my home and only in daylight at a VERY public place.

Not long ago a couple was murdered selling a car off CL by meeting them at a vacant lot.

Others have been robbed at gun point when comming to purchase an expensive item. You don't hear much about this but it happens everyday everywhere.

Please be careful ( and smart).

Blessings, Bo
