Jack:
Thanks for that. I was at that site a few days ago looking at the previous report. I guess they come out quarterly.
I am trying out Microsoft Security Essentials and looking at the Microsoft forum on that product.
It seems to be working OK. There are some complaints about how often it actually updates. MS has a technology (I forget the acronym--DDL or something like that) that uses the cloud to evaluate unrecognized threats, rather than sending out updates every hour.
It has a very simple interface compared to competitors.
Now I have to decide which security apps I can get rid of if I use MSE. So far, I have deleted just AVG Free--my other real time scanner.

Mitch, I installed the Microsoft Security on my Win 7 and Vista 32 bit last week and so far it seems to be working OK. It's not "bloatware" like some security packages are and it isn't slowing down the PC or affecting Win 7 startup/shutdown times.
I had McAfee installed and I had a problem with Sonar. Sonar tech support said they had some compatibility issues between Sonar and McAfee and suggested I uninstall that and install AVG. As I was troubleshooting a problem (which turned out to have nothing to do with any antivirus program)I uninstalled McAfee and installed AVG but I installed the full program since it had a 30 free trial. That was a big mistake as it was "intrusive" and slowed down the PC. After I got the Sonar problem fixed (I found it myself, Sonar Tech Support was a waste) I uninstalled AVG and installed the Microsoft Security.
Several of the other "Techies" on the Dell forum have reported they are using the Microsoft and so far no problems.
I Have the Microsoft and MBAM installed.
