You Tube Vids to audio only ??
Anyone know of a free program that will transfer downloaded YouTube vids to audio only? I know some will ask why. Well, I want to try and cop some Buddy Emmons things that were recorded live at jams etc.During the 70's and 80's.If I can burn them as Cd's. I can then slow them down. Which will give me a fighting chance.
Thanks in advance......bb

Bobby,
I use Audacity (a free program) as follows.
Open both Audacity and my video player, start the video and press record on Audacity. You can then export the Audacity recording as an mp3 and (in my case add it to a cd to play in the car), or in your case burn to cd and slow it down or whatever.
Actually, you can manipulate it every which way you like while still in Audacity, including changing tempo.

I occasionally use Download Helper, as a Firefox add-on. It is updated as necessary to keep working with changes that Google makes to YouTube. It will save movies as .avi, or just audio, as mp3 files. It has a bit of a learning curve, but works nicely.
If your sound card, or built-in sound chipset, has a recording mixer control for What You Hear, just play the YouTube video while recording what you are hearing, saving it as an mp3.

I use http://www.zamzar.com/ All you have to do is click on the download videos tab, convert files to mp3, and put in you email address. You will get an email with an attached file containing the audio only. I don't know about other programs, but it works for iTunes.

Thanks guys. I went with Michael's idea because it seemed easy. The down load and installion was.
Michael, I followed your instructions. It shows that it's recording on the clock only. Doesn't list the tune. or offer me a place to type the name in. And when I press playback. It appears to be playing but no sound.here's a link to the version I downloaded.

Micheal-
Thanks a bunch! I was wondering how to get all those wonderful songs off youtube so I could enjoy them while driving. I have never even burned a CD, a side from burning 2 songs on one track the rest came out GREAT!
So again thanks a million![/b]
