Windows XP and Oct 22

Post by Randy Reeves »

I have learned that after October 22 Windows will no longer support XP. I understand that Windows 7 is coming out.
what I don't understand is how this will effect my computer running XP. will I no longer receive crucial updates? will I lose virus protection or worse?
what happens if I leave everything as is and proceed as if nothing has changed?
am I up a creek.?

Microsoft hasn't "supported" XP for fixes for quite a while. However, they still support security updates.

The release of Windows 7 won't affect your XP.

Randy;
You will still have your paddle! XP will receive critical patches until April 8, 2014. By that time most of us will have moved on to newer operating systems. As our XP primary hardware fails it will become increasingly harder to replace those parts, so the change may be forced on many of us, sooner, rather than later.

very good. what a relief. I enjoy XP, I have 73% free space, and am relieved critical updates will remain.
2014. indeed, I will be ready.
thanks much.
