Re: Mouse pad problem
Most laptops have a "function" key - sometimes red that provides a two key press option for turning different types of things on/off. Did you get a manual?Bill Dobkins wrote:I just traded for a like new Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. How can I turn off the tap control on the mouse pad.

Also you can try the following:
START button in lower left of screen
Control Pannel
Mouse
Mouse Properties
Hardware Tab
There may be a check box to turn off the touch pad.
Or there may be another "properties tab" to take you to more options.
As I recall - when I connected a normal PS2 mouse to my laptop (HP) it would disconnect the touch pad. Never did like the pad - thumb kept hitting it!!
Good luck.

There is nothing in the Dell manual Click for manual in PDF
The best option would be to post on the Dell Community Users Forum Dell Forum
You will have to register to access the forum and then post in the "new to the community" forum section. Someone with more Laptop knowledge can answer your question. I do a lot of Dell support but it's primarily with Desktops (I was at Dell HQ in Round Rock (Austin) for a web support conference Tuesday and Wednesday of this week).

There is software that you can download and install that will give complete control over your Dell mousepad. I use it myself to disable the joystick that causes the pointer to wander uncontrollably. I wrote a blog article about stopping the pointer from wandering using this software.
One of the things the program does is to control the tap speed and sensitivity. It also provides control over scrolling horizontally and vertically.

Andy, I don't really know how I did it. I tried downloading drivers with no luck. Finally went to google and typed in mousepad drivers and downloaded
a dell alps version:7.1.1500.2 and it worked.
