Email forwarding???

Post by Bill Ford »

How do you forward an email without all the headers(addresses)showing? Sometime I get an interesting one that I want to send/forward, but don't want to sent unnecessary info.

Thanks..Bill

The polite, and proper, way to forward an email is to click on the "Forward" button in whatever email app you're using, enter the email address of the intended recipient(s), and then click and drag in the body of the message and delete all the previous headers, comments and email addresses. Then click on "Send". It's very bad form to forward an email full of email addresses that the whole online world can see, and that spammers can harvest. Hope this helps.

I use the "bcc:" (blind carbon copy) method.

Then nothing shows in the address.

To expand on what C# said, if you want to forward or send an email to a group of predetermined and saved recipients, please, please use BCC, rather than CC. Or, insert all of the recipient names into the TO field, separated with semicolons.

Using BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) conceals the email addresses of the recipient list. Each recipient will receive the email, but the TO field will say "Undisclosed Recipients." This protects all recipients and the sender from any on the list who may have acquired an email harvesting Worm on their computer. Just one infected recipient can send the entire CC (Carbon Copy) list of email addresses and user names home to spammers.
