Invisible emails in inbox ?

Post by Michael Dene »

Lately my Outlook Express goes through the usual steps when starting ... receiving mail .... and then ... 5(or whatever) new messages ...

Trouble is there are less actual new messages visible... maybe only 2 or 3.

Question ... are there really several things being downloaded, and if so where are they,(and how do I get rid of them), or is it some bug in the program?

...I'm running up to date Symantec Virus and Firewall, Ad-aware, Spyware Blaster and SpyBot.

Thanks in advance
Michael

It is possible that your Symantec security has deleted or quarantined the invisible emails. Look in the logs created by the program, as well as in its Quarantine folder location.

Checked the Log files ... no mention of anything relevant. Nothing in Quarantine.
Also checked the options on Symantec's E-Mail Auto protect, and it's set to announce any action it takes.

Still wondering! :?:

Is it IMAP or POP? If it's IMAP then it's normal for it to download more messages than there are new messages in your inbox.

Thanks John,

.... it's POP so I'm still wondering.

.... I imagine it's probably items that are being screened/blocked/deleted by Symantec or Spybot, but I'd like to know for sure.

Spybot does not touch email. It must be Symantec.
