Adobe releases security patches for Acrobat & Reader 7 a

Post by Wiz Feinberg »

On March 18, 2009, Adobe Corp released two security updates to protect users of Adobe PDF Reader and Acrobat (encoder) versions 7 and 8. The patched versions are now 7.1.1 and 8.1.4. If you are still using either Acrobat or Reader series 7 or 8, and cannot update to version 9.1, at least patch to one of these versions.

I wrote about the exploits in the wild targeting these programs in this SGF article. In that article I revealed that Adobe had released patched versions 9.1 of Acrobat and Reader, plugging the vulnerabilities being exploited.

Users who have previously updated to Adobe Reader 9.1 and Acrobat 9.1 for Windows and Macintosh need not take any action. Adobe now plans to make available Adobe Reader 9.1 and Adobe Reader 8.1.4 for Unix by March 24.
