Daylight Saving Time ends on March 8, 2009. Spring Forward!
Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday morning, March 8, 2009, at 2 AM, your time. Spring forward one hour (02:00 becomes 03:00) on all clocks and computers. Most computers have an automatic DST adjustment feature, but check the hour the next time you login after the crossover date and time.
DST changeovers are a good time to take down your PCs and vacuum them out. Lose the dust bunnies and hair buildup in the vent holes, fans and heatsinks. Check plugged in cables and add-on cards for a tight fit on both ends and make sure your RAM modules are firmly seated.
Also, vacuum dust out of the vents in your monitors, routers and broadband modems. These items produce heat and need to vent to work properly.

Might as well add---go to "PROFILE" at the top of the forum page to set your forum clock to the correct time. You will need to subtract an hour from Greenwich mean. ---correction--subtract a negative hour...I mean add an hour...I mean--oh hell, for me, go from -5 to -4 hours from GMT.
But that doesn't mean that you can't still enjoy waiting around for the question: "why is my forum clock all wrong?"
I expect that it will pop up any time now--probably in the "For Sale" section.

Jon;
Thanks for mentioning about changing our profiles. Everybody affected by DST changes needs to log into their profile, scroll down to the time zone, and change the setting by minus one hour.
If you live in the US Pacific time zone, change your SGF profile to GMT -7. For Eastern time, change to GMT -4 hours.
I just realized that this affects Webmasters also. All webmasters using FTP to manage their websites have to edit the login settings on the FTP program and change the remote time offset by minus one hour. This will enable the program to stay in sync with your remote servers. Do this for every account you manage.
b0b, this includes you.

Sorry, but I don't get it.
I've never bothered to change the Forum clock. Right now it says GMT -8 hours.
I'm EST, and as far as I know, I never had a problem with the setting/re-setting of this clock.
What is the point in re-setting it, anyway?

Your computer clock should always be synchronized to the correct time and timezone in which you reside. Since you live in Eastern time, you should reset the clock to Eastern Time Zone. Your PC will show the correct DST time after you change to the correct zone.
Programs and files use the system time to perform functions. If the system time is off by three hours then all files and tasks will be running three hours early or late. A wrong time zone will also affect Acronis tasks.

Ah so, Glasshopper!Chip Fossa wrote:Wiz,
I'm a little confused. My PC clock is on auto-DST change mode, so I am right-on, on that account. But the clock inside forum PROFILES is the one that's GMT -8 hrs; this is the clock I'm talking about.
Click on Profile (make sure you are logged in), scroll down to "Timezone (hours from Greenwich):" and change it to GMT -4 hours. Save and exit, stage right.
