Adobe patches Flash Player updates to version 10.0.22.87

Post by Wiz Feinberg »

On February 25, 2009, Adobe released patched versions of its Flash Player plug-ins, for Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers. Supported platforms for this release are Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. The details about these new versions, the reasons behind them and links to downloads are on this Adobe page.

The latest update will patch Flash Player to version 10.0.22.87. I strongly recommend all readers to update their Flash Player software NOW. Critical vulnerabilities in the previous version and older versions are being actively exploited by criminals, to infect computers running Adobe Flash software.

If you use multiple browsers you must go to the aforementioned Adobe downloads page with each browser and install the appropriate patch in it, then close the browser for the patch to take effect.

I neglected to mention in my notice that you can go to this Adobe page to find out which version of Flash Player you have installed in that browser. It tells you the current version number for all supported OSes and contains links to the Flash Download center where you can get the most recent version for your browser and OS.
