Using Windows Movie Maker I made a slideshow. Saved it as a movie to my drive. When I go to burn it to a CD, the program tells me there is no burner installed.

Looked in the help file and it mentions an IMAPI.EXE file. Looked for it on my computer with no results. Can't find it or it doesn't exist. How do I get this file so I can burn my movie?

First thing to do for that problem. Uninstall the burner drive in the Device Manager, then restart the PC and Windows will detect and reinstall it. You can access the Device Manager by holding down the Windows key and then press the Pause/Break Key.

If that doesn't fix it, there is probably another burning program is interferring. If you have any packet writing program enabled that can be one source. Some common Packet writing programs are Roxio "Direct CD" or "Drag to Disc", Sonic "DLA" or Nero "InCD" and many of these are in the startup. You may even have to uninstall these types of programs and restart the PC, if one of these has "captured" the burner drive.

It worked. I uninstalled the drives and re-booted.

Windows Movie Maker burns the file in HighMat technology format which none of my home players recognize, and they are fairly new.

Do I have to change the movie file format, if so to what, so it will be recognized by any player?
