Looking for the 'search' function on vista...

Post by Gordy Hall »

Does anyone know how I can do a simple search using Vista that will allow a search like other Windoz versions??

I just can't seem to figure it out.

TIA,

Gordy

Gordy:

I found a hidden icon called "google desktop" at the bottom right of the screen, pulled it up and typed in the name of the file I was looking for and it seemed to work.

I don't know if that's the correct way of performing a search, but it seemed to work for me.

Just click on the start "icon" (the windows ball) and then type in what you want to search in the "start search" box that will appear jus above the start icon.

If that doesn't get what you want there will be an option for advanced search and you can use that.

If you open the Windows Explorer there is a search box in the upper right, similar to the search box in Internet Explorer 7 and you can search the PC's hard drive from there.
