Question for Wiz
Wiz, I've started getting complaints that folks are not able to stream the YouTube videos I have embedded at the Video Screening Room at www.SteelGuitarJazz.com I had not heard that in the past but it has happened once or twice to me recently as well, but I just tried another browser and it worked okay. Would you please try it out and let me know what you see?
Many thanks,
Jim
p.s. Update: I just experienced the problem again using Firefox but it worked fine with both IE and AOL browsers. I've sent a query to the hosting company to see if they can sort it out but if you have any helpful observations, I'd appreciate it.
Many thanks,
Jim

Moved from Steel on the Web:
Hi Jim,
There is something weird going on here.
I tried to play Gary Lee's song via SGJ and the video starts and plays without sound for 1 second then quits.
After that, my computer will not play any other YT vids...it freezes like I explained. I reboot and it's fine on youtube again. As soon as I try the Gary Lee one again thru SGJ, it acts up.
There definitely is some conflict here. Whether or not it's my PC I don't know. I see others are having the same problem.

All of the embedded YT videos play fine for me in Firefox 3.0.3.
Note, that I had to allow your domain and Flash, in NoScript, before they would play. Others using FireFox with the NoScript extension will also need to Allow the domain and Flash from the domain.

Jim;
I'm sorry. "NoScript" is what is called an "extension" or "Add-on" and is produced by an independent developer; Giorgio Maone. Mozilla.org tests most add-ons, and if approved, they are listed in the database of Add-ons, Extensions, Plug-ins and Themes.
NoScript is available for free, for the Firefox browser only. The developer's website is at: http://noscript.net.
You must manually install the NoScript Add-on/Extension. Visit the Mozilla Add-on page for NoScript and clcik on the Add to Firefox button. Approve the action and restart Firefox. The icon and options for NoScript will appear on the Status Bar, along the bottom of the browser. You can configure it to give a new bar, a sound, or a red icon, when scripts are being blocked.

But would I be right in thinking that, if one has not manually installed No Script, that there is no need to go do that (and then make the appropriate settings) in order to fix the problem we're having? Or are you saying that, to fix the problem, one SHOULD go install No Script and then set it properly??

This is probably just network congestion, or browsers getting overloaded by the sheer number of embedded Flash videos on the page. Or, it could be due to the convergence of forces beyond our comprehension.

Don;
NoScript is set to block embedded third party content like Flash, by default. You can override this for each website you want to allow.
