Post by Joe Blount »

I guess the title, was the question. I remember someone asking this earlier on the forum, and someone told what was needed to do it.

Joe, yes they can. I download the songs with a program called Easy Video Downloader. Then I burn the songs to a DVD with a program called DVD Flick. Both these programs are free downloads.

I have found with DVD Flick that if I try and stuff too many..say 50 songs- on one disk,I am asking for trouble. I try to keep it at 10 to 12 songs per disk.
At $1 per disk it is still reasonable.

The youtube video's are .FLV files which are flash media. I use FLV Downloader software to download the files and then the FLV Converter to convert it to .VOB file which is DVD format. But then you just can't save a .VOB directly to a DVD, you have to use a program which "authors" it (tells the DVD how to read the .VOB files). The authoring is done by .IFO and .BUP files. Most people use NERO software to do this. Nero will take the .VOB files and author it thus creating the necessary IFO and BUP files which make it into a readable DVD you put in your DVD player. You'll see if you get a DVD movie from Blockbuster and put it in your computer, and view the actual files. You will see the .IFO, BUP, and .VOB files.
As far as getting the music only from these videos. I don't think that would be hard at all but I havn't tried it yet.

There are websites that will do this as well...just google "youtube to mp3" and you will get a dozen sites that will let you put in a youtube link and they will return you a link for an mp3 file.

I have Real player. If I'm looking at a Utube I just pass the curser over the picture I get a flag above it that says, "Download this video" If I click on it, it downloads to Real player. The Real player picture is bigger than Utube, and you can also move the file to another folder if you chose.

I was not able to burn the real player files to dvd without buying their software. I use one of the free converters. Real player would play on the pc but thats all. for free that is. of course I'm not very computer literate. The software I found can convert it to play on the ipod or burn to disk
