Wiz I know this has been a topic before but rather than tacking on to the original , I wanted to pass something on to you regarding the AVG matter.
A friend of mine sent me the following download information that he did off this site :

He reads the upgrade from the free 7.5 to a FREE 8.0
I have not opened the majorgeek link yet or downloaed anything regarding the 8.0 ! Wanted you to comment on what you thought about this. If you think the upgrade has a free and another version that costs should I download the Free 8.0 of stick with the free 7.5?
I'm confused ! Thanks for all your help !

At this time I strongly discourage any members of this forum from installing AVG 8.0, paid or free version. It is known to be causing system slowdowns, failures to boot and BSODs, all of which go away when it is completely uninstalled. I was lucky enough to only have slowdowns in browsing and reading email. Others aren't so fortunate. This is a flawed release that was rushed to market before being thoroughly tested and vetted. Now it is causing chaos among it's installed user base of millions of unhappy customers.
Eventually the causes of these problems will be isolated and fixed. I will watch the AVG forums and will let you know when a new subversion has been released, which is stable and computer friendly.
