BIAB Question
When I click on a saved BIAB file (icon) stored on my desktop... the BIAB program comes up and I get the blank BIAB screen, Not the song. Then I have to click on OPEN, choose the right folder, and click on the song.
I recently installed BIAB 2008. Before that I had BIAB 11 for several years, and when I clicked on a BIAB file icon on the desktop, the song would open and start playing. Now I get the blank chart, not the saved song. How do I get a saved song to open and play when I click on the icon? It must be in the preferences somewhere, but I can't find it. Thanks

BIAB song files have extensions of .sug and .mug or a variation of that. Windows does not have these extensiona in its "standard" set of file relationships.
So . . . it does not know what program to open these up in . . . If you look in your "Control Panel" in windows you will find a way to associate file extensions with a particular opening program.
I think that will fix it . . . good luck.

Interesting. Unless Doug reinstalled his operating system, the file associations should still be in place.

I'll check into it, but I tend to think it's something in the BIAB 2008 settings. I have hundreds of BIAB files on my computer that used to open and play when I clicked on them. Now I click and I get the blank chart. It could be worse... at least I Can open a song from the BIAB screen. It's just kind of a nuisance.

Go to BIAB Main Menu item FILE then File utilities then Associate file types with windows. . . .
You will be asked if you want to associate BIAB song files with Windows . . . . choose yes.
I think this has to do with the fact that VISTA requires the "Administrator" to do "non-window" associations so you have to force Version 2008 to "Know what to do. One time and that should do it.
Even if you are running XP the BIAB Version 2008 is programed toward VISTA and this is a requirement I believe.
Let me know if this fixed it.

Doug you are most welcome. And thank you for all the great posts you make here on the forum.Doug Beaumier wrote:YES! That did it, Gary! Thank you.
I'm a newbee to PSG only about 6 month into it so I can't help others much on the steel (yet!) so it's great to have something to give now and then.
