Odd thing

Post by John Roche »

My laptop HP Pavilion dv9000 has lost the speaker output but the headphones work ok, It's still under warranty but back in the UK and I'm in Spain.
I don't want to open it because of that. Everything seem to be as it should, very odd..

Try the old standby, uninstall the sound in the Device Manager, restart the computer and Windows should find new hardware and reinstall the sound.

This fixes a lot of varied problems, may fix yours.

To access the device manager, hold the Windows key down and then press the Pause/Break key.
