External Hard Drive ???
I've noticed that my external HD comes with a CD (software for set up,,have not installed it yet). Does that mean that if I take this HD to another computer,,which is one of the reasons I'm using it, would I need to install the software on which ever computer I'm using to access the external HD?

No. The software that is on the CD that came with your external drive is probably backup, or encryption software, or something else that is not needed by most users. Unless the manual warns you that the drive requires you to install the supplied software, I wouldn't do so.
OTOH: If the application on that CD offers a backup solution that is better than the Windows Backup, and you don't already use a commercial backup application, try it out. If you do choose to install the application on that CD, and it is for creating backups, you will have to install it on every computer that will use that application when backing up to that drive.
I use Acronis True Image to make backups to my external drive and never installed the backup program that shipped with the enclosure.
