Recycle bin question
I was trying to free up some drive space and looked in the recycle bin. There are many repeated files that looked to be associated with Outlook Express. For example, Sent Items.bak, deleted items.bak.
I don't know how these files got in the bin. Does XP put them in there automatically ever so often? Some of the lastest ones were dated only a couple of weeks ago.
Would it be safe to delete some of these files, leaving the most current entries? Some look like they are taking up huge amounts of space.

Ken;
These are backups of your Outlook Express email databases, which are now created anytime you compact your Outlook Express Folders. It is safe to delete these files, but you should check a few of your email messages in your Inbox first, to be sure they are ok, then delete the backups, in the Recycle Bin.

Also, Ken and others, a neat little trick in case you didn't know it...
When there are items you definitely want to delete. Without having to go via the recycle bin, simply hold down the shift key as you push the delete button(either mouse or delete key) That way the item gets thrown right out of the computer.
Just make sure you want to delete it...it's a powerful command.
