Epson Stylus Photo R320

Post by Joe Delaronde »

Anyone using the Epson Stylus Photo R320 to print on printable CDs?

I have a problem; After it prints 1 or 2 CDs it will draw the CD tray past the limit and when it tries to return the tray, it catches the CD tray door.

At present I solve the problem by re-booting the computer. Gets to be a long dragged out job after 10 Cds.

I install the tray correcetly and everything else. I have contacted the Epson people with no satisfactory results. "Make sure the tray is installed correctly, etc"

Has anyone else ran into this problem?
Thanks in advance

I have an RX700 that prints on CD's. But I used to have an R250 Epson printer that prints on CD's. It would occasionally take the tray and run it out the back then give an error light on the control panel. Positioning it back with the arrows matching and pressing the button to continue would solve the problem and it would print on the CD. The RX700 (which is an all in one) has a different tray for the CD's and so far has not had the problem, and it's about a year and a half old.

You shouldn't have to reboot the PC for the printer error.

I have an older Epson Stylus Photo printer (I think it's an R200). The CD tray is temperamental. Sometimes I gently guide it with my hand. When it goofs up the paper feed error button flashes. Pushing that button resets the printer, and I can usually get it going right without doing anything at the computer side.

Maybe we should look into the RX700 that Jack uses. Sounds like it's more stable.

I have the Epson Stylus Photo R340 and it will run the try out the back unless I 1st set up and print a sheet of paper 1st.
Then it seems to feed the CD's OK.

Jack your RX700 sounds like it behaves. I would be willing to buy one if the ink cartridges were compatible with the R320. I'll check it out. I bought a "continuous supply ink kit" for the R320. It only cost $50 but has 6 LARGE ink tanks which feed into dummy ink cartridges via ribbon ink tubes. An excellent setup if you do a lot of printing.

Bob, I have tried everything to make the printer and/or software print more than two CDs. When the printer was new in July 2007, there were no problems printing out 10 CDs at a time. I think there is a switch or something that has changed in the setup. Certainly not by me, but by some other means.

I checked the net and found a lot of people are having this same problem, but Epson won't help. Tells me something.

Don, I have tried the paper thing, and sometimes it does this on its own, but still won't carry on printing more than 2 CDs.

Any other printers out there that do a good job of printing on Cds.

Thanks
Joe

I just picked up an Epson RX580 printer/scanner/copier with the continous ink supply mod and about a years supply of ink refills for $235.00 at the Pomona Fairgrounds computer swapmeet. No issues. When it thinks it's out of ink, you just restart the thing and it resets the "inktank full" icon. Finally - an end to ridiculous ink prices. Extremely Hi-Def printing too.Prints CDs - I'm diggin it.

The continuous ink supply system is not available for the RX700 that I have. But, I can buy non Epson cartridges (Supermedia Store) that work just like the Epson's and at about 1/3 the price of Epson cartridges.

Photo printing is not a problem as I have a small Kodak photo printer.
