If the computers are not networked together already (stand alone PCs), your simplest method to transfer any data between them is to buy a large capacity USB thumbdrive. Plug it into a USB port on the computer that has the files you want to transfer and check My Computer to see that it has been assigned a drive letter. Double click on the new drive icon in My Computer to open it. Open a second instance of My Computer and navigate your hard drive(s) to locate the songs/data to be transferred and position/resize that window so you can see it next to the one for the thumbdrive.
From the source files window, copy and paste, or drag and drop as many songs, or other data files as the thumbdrive will hold (hint: create a folder on it first, name it, then open that folder and paste or drag the files into it. You'll save more files that way).
After the thumbdrive is full, use the Remove Hardware icon in the System Tray area to Stop that drive, then unplug it. Carry it to the other computer, plug it in, see that it is assigned a drive letter, then open it, open the new folder, and drag all the songs, or data files to a new folder on that computer. When the thumbdrive has emptied itself, use the Remove Hardware tool to unplug it. Take it back to the first computer if necessary and repeat the process until all files have been transferred.
I hope this helps.

Yes, that is the preferred method and is the one I use to transfer data between my laptop and tower. With the computers connected together via a router, assuming a common "workgroup" name is used, they will be part of the same local area network (LAN), and can share files and folders, if File and Printer Sharing has been turned on and some items have been designated to be shared.Andy Sandoval wrote:Wiz, can a router be used this way to transfer from one computer to another?
