Firefox 2.0.0.9 released Nov 1. Upgrade now.
Mozilla has upgraded Firefox to version 2.0.0.9, to patch some problems that were reported from the October 18, 2007 release of Firefox 2.0.0.8 (a security update, patching 8 vulnerabilities). If you haven't already seen the popup notice about the new version and installed it, please open Firefox, go to Help > Check for Updates, and accept the upgrade to the new version. You must restart Firefox for the changes to take effect. If you use a software firewall, like ZoneAlarm, you will have to re-allow the "changed application" to connect to the Internet.
You can find the list of items patched here.
A fresh copy of Firefox is available for downloading here.

I download the update but when I allow FF to restart & install it, it is still 2.0.0.7. Update history says that 0.8 is downloaded and installation is "pending". I have restarted it several times. I have also repeatedly done 'check for updates' and each time it informs me of 0.8 and asks if I want to download it even though I just did. Or thought I did.
Any thoughts about what's my problem?

Try downloading FF 2.0.0.8 directly from the Get Firefox web page. Save it to your desktop, or downloads folder, then run it, using the Upgrade option. This will usually succeed where in place upgrades fail. Close Firefox before upgrading.Jon Light wrote:I download the update but when I allow FF to restart & install it, it is still 2.0.0.7.
