I have BIAB 2007 on my computer & it works great.I purchased a new sound card for it Blaster X-fi Extreme Audio model SB0790.I have an e-machines T5048 which has buit in sound card? Installation for new card says to uninstall any existing drivers before installing.I looked in add & remove programs & found
1.High Definition Audio Package-KB888111
2.Realtek High Definition Audio Driver
How do I go about this since it ha built in sound card ? Need all the help I can get. David Sanderson
It really doesn't matter if the Realtek drivers are left on the PC. The big thing is to disable the integrated audio (Realtek) before you install the SoundBlaster. On many PC's, the integrated audio can be disabled in the BIOS and on others there is usually a jumper on the motherboard to disable the integrated audio.
When you install the SoundBlaster, follow the directions, which usually tell you, after physically installing the card (obviously with the PC power off) and connecting your speakers to the card, to ignore (cancel) any Windows message about searching for drivers and continue the Windows start up. After Windows is finished starting, run the SoundBlaster setup CD that will include the drivers and the additional software.
One issue, if you have a front panel headphone and/or a microphone jack these will be disabled with the installation of the new SB card. You will have to use the rear jacks for the mic and a headphone (if you use these).
In Band in a Box, you will have to setup the program to use the SoundBlaster MIDI Synth. The program won't automatically change to the SoundBlaster. I'm not at home and my PC with BIAB so I can't give you the exact step by step procedure for BIAB.
