3D graphics

Post by Dave Seddon »

I am trying to view some 3D Panoramic pictures on the website of a local radio station. When I click on the subject picture all I get is a blank screen with a little square in the top left hand corner with a red X in it. At the bottom of the page it gives instructions on how to rotate the picture with the mouse but without a picture it's not much use. Can anyone help please? I'm using XP with built in intel extreme graphics, if thats any help.
Cheers, Dave.

That usually means the picture you are trying to view is not on the web site or the link to that picture is "broken" (wrong).

It's the web site's problem, not yours.

Thanks Jack, there are about 300 pictures and I can't get any of them to show. I've got all the usual gear like the adobe stuff (Which they say you need for this thing) but still no joy. I have sent e-mails to them but they don't seem to understand what I'm saying. A case of wait and see I suppose. Thanks any way Jack.
Best wishes Dave.

Dave;
Please post a link to the web page in question so we can see if it is broken, or your browser has images blocked.

Wiz, thanks for your reply, I have found since that the website is working OK. My brother -in-law checked it out and he can get the pics. I have now put in a new AGP card, (Radeon 9250, 128MB, GDDR)I have also checked to make sure I have the latest JAVA, but I still have the same problem. I just don't understand it. Anyway if you or anyone else can think of anything I may have missed please let me know.
Most gratefull. Dave.

Dave;
Is that website the only one on which you cannot view the images? If you are not able to see images anywhere it is a browser setting.

If only that website is unviewable there are a couple of possibilities.
  • You are using Internet Explorer and have placed the website in the Restricted Sites Zone and turned off images for that zone (in the custom Zone settings).
  • You are using security software that is blocking the images because one or more of them is infected with known exploit codes.
  • The website is blocking you from viewing its images, for its own reasons.
  • The images may be PNG format and you may be using an older browser that doesn't recognize that format.
  • Your browser may be corrupted and is failing to display some image formats.
  • You are on dial-up internet service and the sheer volume of images prevents them from ever loading. Since the server is tring to load the images and your pipe is too thin to receive them. None, or only the first few are loading.
I hope this helps narrow it down. You will need to give us a better description of the problem that what we currently have. For instance, are you on dial-up, or slow dsl? What browser make and version are you using? What is your Operating System and service pack level? Is this a recent problem? Did you install or upgrade something just before the problem manifested itself? Can you view images properly elsewhere? Are you using security programs that block dangerous content for you?

Try to right-click on one of the images that won't show and see if you can get a "Properties" window to appear. If that works, you might be able to find what kind of file the image is, which would be a pointer to how to find a fix.

Looks like you need the "Java" plug in for your browser.

Here is the Java plug in download page, but it also depends on your browser. I.E.7 has an option to find more plug ins.
