how to forward a file
for some reason a file I want to send using email doies not want to attach.
it is an mp3 patch file; it allows the user to create an endless amount of mp3's form their recording software. the file is 128k.
my yahoo mail server allows me 10megs an upload.
(is the file too large?).
I have tried sendspace.com. they have you upload files as large as 300meg. I registered and hit the 'browse' upload button. my file appeared on desktop. I click the file and it stays out instead of jumping to the browse box for upload.I have used site similar; ie, photobucket, so I know how uploading works.
my next option was to burn the file to CD and mail it with postage. I \when I tried thatan alert said I need a different type of CD disc. I thought CD R's were the same.
any help?

128K is not too large, it's much less than 10MB
However, as it's some type of "executable" file some e-mail applications will not let you attach that type of file. Use the zip program, if you have one, and zip the file, then it won't appear as an executable file.
Some of the web based e-mail programs can be an issue with attaching files. I have a HotMail account and I don't have problems attaching files that small (128kb). Do you have a regular ISP e-mail account that you use with an e-mail program such as Outlook Express? If you do, use that to send it.
Make sure you are actually attaching the file, not for example a desktop link to the program.

hey Jack. thanks for the reply. I use yahoo email at home. that is where the file is now. at work I have a dot org email. I can send all kinds of things from there. it seems the problems and limits are only from my home email. yahoo.com grrr.
my PC has outlook express so I will look into that.
a zip file also is another good tip.
the mp3 patch file shows three icons in the file.
read me, the download and another text file. the file is workable.I opened it and it works. I assume the desktop icon that I just used is also the same that I can drag to attach; and then assume the file is all there.
I thought to burn the file I want to sent to CD, but I am given the alert that I have the wrong CD inserted. it is a CD R. is there another type of CD that shhould be used for his kind of data storage??

Randy;the mp3 patch file shows three icons in the file.

You haven't told us the file extension of the patch you want to attach, or the full name of the desktop icon. Is a .zip, .rar, .exe, .mp3? You mentioned the desktop icon that you can click on to reveal the contents of the patch and were wondering if attaching that icon was the same as attaching the files it leads to. Did you already install this patch on your computer, thus acquiring the desktop icon? If so the icon is only a shortcut to a program that exists only on your computer (until somebody else downloads the setup and installs it on their computer). Attaching that icon will NOT attach the program it points to. All you are sending is an icon, which is basically a bitmap image file, with a .ico extension.
What you probably need to do is find the original setup file for this patch and send it. However, as Jack mentioned, if it is an executable file your, or the recipient's ISP will probably block it.
