YouTube Video Codec

Post by Gary Shepherd »

Anyone know what codec I need to download to play video files I've downloaded from YouTube? I downloaded them using the OOK plugin for FireFox. I use the free Media Player Classic.

Thanks for the answer. That might be helpful if I don't get an answer to the original question.

I loaded this program(YouTube Downloader) to try it and I can say it is faster and easier than others I have tried. No downloading errors either.

But, is it just me or does the downloaded file lose some of it video quality?? I have download the same file with Vixy and it seemed to be better video. Of course I get a lot of downloading errors with it.

Am I doing something wrong here?

With email format set to html,
you might try this snippit of code
replacing the youtube video info as needed.

http://www.google.com/support/youtube/b ... tx=sibling
This came from the youtube site.

It does not insert the video itself,
but merely pulls it from a website.

I'm sure there are more capable people to help with this than I, but it's a start.

I did a quick copy/paste with the code into a plain text editor and saved it with the html extension
then opened in iExplorer. Had to let the code run when scolded by the browser.

Seemed to work OK, Jim.

How it will work in the body of an email message???

Sorry for hijacking your thread, Gary.
