As has happened before, always set a system restore point before installing any Windows or major application updates, just in case one of them breaks an important application, or Windows itself. Last week an out-of-cycle Microsoft critical patch reeked havoc on computers that used Realtek audio adapters. See my Blog article about the Realtek adapter problems caused by the April 3 patch, and the suggested remedies.
