I'm jealous, I got to open for him years ago at Sunset Park in PA. He's a super singer and a nice guy too. I haven't had the chance to see him since then.

Hi Dana. I saw Gene a few years ago at the St. Louis convention. He did alot of the songs that he had recorded with B.E. It was great.

Chris:
What year was that when you opened for Gene at Sunset Park ?? I may have been playing for him then as I worked for Gene from early '78 until '87.

One time Gene's plane was very late and we started the show without him only to have him arrive via police helicopter. That was cool wild. The croud loved it, but we, the band were quite anxious and wondering if Gene had slipped off with George Jones or something. Fortunately, such was not the case.

Hello Tiny, Please send me your e-mail address. I have tried the one listed without success. Thanks, Larry J., Walton, NY. I always liked Gene Watson, especially his cut of Farewell Party.

Welllllll,
We will open for Gene at the Crystal Chandelier in Lancaster TX in June. It will be great to see him again and hang out with my good friend Corky. I'm old friends with him from the Perfect Stranger days.

Tiny, I really enjoyed the work you did with Gene. You created an awesome unique sound on the recordings you played on. I listen to them often and my respecto-meter needle flies high. Did you ever do any Europe tours with Gene? I was playing there in 1987 and Gene's records were all over the radio stations. Gene was on tour there the same month we were but we never crossed paths.

Tiny, don't remember the year, but I was working for a 15 year old Patsy Cline sound alike for that gig. I'm thinking early nineties? For the life of me I can't recall who was playing steel for Gene at the time (I do recall Gene taking about four cigerettes from me while we were talking!!).

Larry:
I only have a few minutes now but I will get an e-mail off to you soon. Thanks.

Terry:
Thanks for your kind words. We did those albums with Gene very quickly and it's amazing they came out as well as they did. I did several with a black '78 Emmons P/P D-10, several with a rosewood '74 Emmons P/P D-10 and several with an '83 D-10 ZumSteel. It was fun and I was lucky to get the chance to play on many of Gene's hits and albums. I'm forever thankful to him for that. I spoke to Gene on the phone a few days ago and he's doing great.

I did several European tours with Gene, the last being spring of '87. Lots-a-fun.

Please say hi to Gene and Corky for me and BTW... I think Corky does a fantastic job.
Thanks again.

Chris:
By the early '90s I was gone from Gene's band so it may have been Corky Owens, Steve Palusek or someone else. Corky is with Gene now and I know this is at least his 2nd stint working for Mr. Watson. Thanks.
