I've Lost All My Friends!!!!!!
My email crashed about 4 days ago and it looks like we are not going to be able to retrieve it. I had over a year of messages that were lost so I lost everyones email addresses. Would you guys that I have been in contact via email please email me so I can at least get your email addresses back and if we had any unfinished conversations going on please understand what has happened and lets start over. I don't have addresses written down, I would just go click on an old message to get the address. If you are a friend of mine please email me.
Thanks,
Jerry
Thanks,
Jerry

Jerry, the only way I have to back up is to a disk, but you can't back up the address book. At least I can't, If somwone knows how to back up to a disk let me know. Win 98 with ME added.
We use the Money Program a lot plus I have an address list for snail mail thats 4 pages long and four or five others that I back up to disk every time I use them. About a year ago quite a few Forum members got a virus and I had to run my Quick Restore and start all over, but I was able to load all my other stuff with the disks. You can print it out though so all we had to do was type them back in. You can also set your computer to put the e mail in your book when ever you get one.
BC.

This probably should be in Computers, but since Jerry is trying to get the maximum exposure for people to resend e-mails to him I'll leave it here.
In Outlook and Outlook Express you can "export" any folder, Contacts, inbox, etc to a file (the type you designate but I usually use ASCII file) either on the hard drive or to a floppy diskette or to a CD. Contacts (address book) will normally fit on a floppy diskette. In Outlook or Outlook Express click on File and then Import/Export and then select the functions.
You should also back up your e-mail account (from the Tools/accounts) in case you have to recover or reinstall the e-mail program. You will already have the e-mail configuration and won't have to manually set it up again.
[This message was edited by Jack Stoner on 24 January 2002 at 08:59 AM.]

That kind of massive data loss hasn't happened to me - yet. My online computer is just a 7 year old fairly bare-bones Pentium 1 233mz and since floppies are slow and low capacity,I picked up a 100mg Zip drive at a computer swap meet for $20,and popped it in.Now I have all my E-mail stuff on one zip disk, all my word docs on another, all my Photoshop stuff on another and so on.I update them every 30 days or so. -MJ-

I am gonna Gibson good advise to anyonewho don't wish to BMI position. Do like Jack or Zum body said and back your email addresses up but if you happen to get in this predicament just let the forum know about it. I did and I have received more emails than Carter has Little Liver Pills!
Derby times I just can't get around to reading them all. Oh, I would suggest we all ignore ole Jack Heern 'cause MSA trouble maker. CM I's at it again. Thanks to all you guys who have responded. I do appreciate it.
