Sierra Steel Guitars is super excited to welcome one of the best players around back into the family!
David Wright started his pedal steel journey on a guitar his dad, Chuck Wright built. It is with great pride and satisfaction to welcome David home to Sierra!
One of Sierra's earliest players is now Sierra's newest player!
I would like to thank Ross, and Michael Small for all the hard work it takes to build this guitar, They have gone over and beyond to make it just Wright...This guitar is nothing like the early Sierra's, Ross put his Heart & Soul into redesigning the Sierra, the Wright Custom put on the neck brought both a smile & tear in my eyes when I seen it, Ross's idea...Love it!!!! This guitar plays and sounds GREAT!!..That's a 1960 Sierra behind the 2022 Sierra...If you thinking on getting one, do it, you won't be disappointed!!!!!!
Thanks for the kind words David. The all too short friendship I shared with your dad provided me with so much inspiration, building you a new Sierra, the fruit of that inspiration was an opportunity I could not pass on!
Can't wait to hear you rip it up on your new rig!
Family rules!!
Speaking of family, Michael Small and I met when he bravely took the leap and ordered himself a new Sierra. He was one one of the first to hop on board. Since getting his guitar 3 or 4 years ago he and I have become close friends with a relationship that's as close to brotherhood as any friendship I've ever had. The dude just happens to be an excellent steel player, an extremely skilled technician and has the same immature, non-pc (sick?) sense of humor as me!
Besides helping me with special projects like David's guitar from time to time, he has shared many good ideas and helped me dig deeper to improve these contraptions I build. I can without any hesitation say that Michael's input and ideas have made Sierra Steels even better! Thanks Bro!

You're welcome Ross! It's been my pleasure. Buying a Sierra was one of the best decisions I've ever made for two reasons. One-it's the best playing, sounding and designed pedal steel ever made. MHO. Second- made a life long friend in you, Ross Shafer. You're my brother, friend and mentor. I could not be more proud, and humbled by what you just wrote. I'm also proud to have made a very small contribution to the Shafer Sierra.
David! You are an awesome player and a good guy! I especially appreciate the time you spend playing "in the rooms" at the Dallas shows. I always learn something from you and usually walk away shaking my head saying to myself "How does he get that smooth sweet sound?"
I really can't wait to hear you on The New Sierra! Congratulations! You may find, like me and other New Sierra owners, that your steel will just keep sounding better as time goes on and it "breaks-in a little. You are gonna love it!
blah, blah, blah.
Hey You Kids! Get Off My Lawn!
blah, blah, blah.

What a beautiful guitar, I can’t wait to see and hear it. I like Ross and respect his design sense. I never met your Dad but I know he is proud. Let’s jam!
