Son Volt Mark Spencer

Post by Gary Kaye »

Anyone know what Mark uses for his stage rig on live shows with Son Volt aside from his Williams which sounds awesome?
Thanks

You sure about a Williams? Last I knew (and for a long long time) he played a Fender PSG. With a flat pick. I am not claiming to be up to the minute with his rig so....
He is a superb musician.

Oh, and I'll add--it's a Fender 8 string set up with only 7 strings.

I believe that was Eric Heywood, former SV PSG'r that played a Williams. The two times I have seen them with Mark, he played a Fender.

I like Son Volt but when we saw them live, industrial strength earplugs were required.
I recall there being PSG on only a few tunes.
I play with a group that does "Windfall".

Yeah, I saw them at the Aladdin and complained to the manager about the volume...he said that they check levels from the sound board...which is WAY back in the room, and the speakers are at ground level on the stage! I checked levels and they were way beyond damage threshold...I love Son Volt, but had to leave, with what little hearing I had left...
