Joan Sebastian

Post by Boo Bernstein »

I am just returning from a four month tour so I never had a chance to post this. For the last five years, I was a member of the band for Latin star Joan Sebastian. Sadly, Joan passed away in July. The NY Times had a really wonderful write-up about Joan: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/15/arts/ ... .html?_r=0

Joan, who was an amazingly talented singer/songwriter, loved pedal steel! His use of the instrument -- both live and on his recordings (I was fortunate enough to appear on a number of his albums) -- inspired other Mexican artists to start including steel in their music. While he may not be familiar to most steel guitarists, he did a lot to bring the sound to an international audience.

I will miss him tremendously
