RIP.......Monte Paul
I just heard from an old friend in SoCal that drummer/vocalist Monte Paul has passed away. Monte's been suffering from Dementia for awhile now and hasn't been doing well at all. We worked together a lot in my old days back in Southern California and were pretty tight. Let's pray for his wife Jo Ellen as they were married a very long time..........JH in Va.

Jerry: This is the first I have heard of this and I am so sorry. As you know Monte and I worked on the Sammy Masters Band until I had to quit playing in 2006. Monte was a fun Guy, a great Drummer and Singer. Sammy and I went to see him a couple of years ago but he was not remembering very well. I wonder if Carl Walden knows about tis. I will give him a call tomorrow.
Best Regards, Billy T.

Gary B...you're right about Monte being a funny guy. When we were at the Swizzle Stik in Huntington Beach ol' Monte was our "front man" from back on the drum riser and did all of our emcee work. He had that gift of gab that it takes for that. Later when we were at Shire's in Stanton, the owner (Paul Perrier) actually paid Monte extra to be the emcee and announcer. He was worth it! I was really sad when the dementia set in and he was out of everthing. He had a good career in the SoCal music scene, especially during the "good old days" of the sixties, seventies, and eighties......JH in Va.

Monte Paul
Monte WILL be missed for sure..Monte's brother and myself graduated High School together in Long Beach, Calif back in '58' and Monte graduated from the same high school in 1970. That would be Long Beach Polytecnic High School. We had played alot of gigs together thru the years, and he told me that I was one of his favorite fiddle players along with Harvey Walker. Sad news indeed. Ron Epperson is correct... We need to take better care of ourselfs, and one can do that with Kangen water, for sure.

So sad to hear of this! Monte was one of the classic guys in the SoCal scene. I'll never forget his spin on some of the lyrics with his mild stammer. Funny guy!!! Great drummer!!! I've never seen any drummer pack up his kit and get down the road faster after a gig than Monte.
Prayers for Jo Ellen.

Sad to hear, Monte and I worked at the Holiday II in El Monte with Jimmy Lawton.
Here's a photo from that time period. Richard Trees was the bassist.
