I think it was his solo on love reunited that
inspired me to play steel!Jay Dee has got one
thing that alot of steel players don't have...ATITUDE!!!Maybe it's all those years living in L.A.,I don't know. But he's definately one of the greatest steel players
EVER!!!!Get the new chris and herb album,"Way
out West"He's incredible on it!!! -Derek

A night to remember was when I popped in a small club called the "Agoura Cafe" and Lo and behold there was Jay Dee and Albert Lee trading "Blistering Solos" W O W what a treat to see these great musicians playing..

When I first heard "Misty" I thought sure it was Lloyd Green. Just had to be. Then somehow I found out it was Jay Dee. Ol' Jay Dee ranks right up there with the best, no doubt. Jay Dee and Tony Booth..........what a combination!

Me and Jaydee are personal friends. He's also a member of our NTSGA. Jaydee usually drops by to visit whenever he's here in Nashville. He's always been my favorite!

I got a chance to see Jay Dee play at Viva Fresh a few weeks ago. Ernest Bovine told me about Jay Dee playing there and I just had to go. What a great guy and an amazing player! I introduced myself as a newbie player and he even invited me up to play during his second set. I was way too intimidated to take him up on his offer, although his Emmons P/P was hard to resist. Any of his stuff with Chris Hillman is great, I especially like the "Bakersfield Bound" CD. Keep up the insprirational work Jay Dee. I'll be first in line for that instructional video.

Jay Dee is one my two favorite players. I remember seeing him play at the Sacramento Steel show a couple of years ago. When he played 'Together Again' on the Friday night set, I thought I was going to slither out of my chair and slide on down to the floor! I guess I'll be second in line for the video.

Reggie,

I didn't mention it (somewhere Image) but the fact is - Jay Dee on "Misty", Lloyd (I think) on "San Antonio Stroll", and Byrd Burton on "Amazing Grace Used to Be Her Favorite Song" were the three main songs that convinced my folks to take me on that "birthday trip to let the kid get a pedal steel" in 1975! I too went "crazy-in-love" for the pedal steel because of these great players beautifully blessed work of creative art! I don't think I could live without any of them though (meaning ALL players)! God Love ALL the Steel Players!
