Jody, each of us respect and greatly admire you....I sure do ! Ray("Skip")is a fine steeler also. I do feel Ray unintentionally opened a can of worms and meant no deliberate disrespect towards Roy. As others have said, and I agree, Roy is an icon, however in saying that, he is not infallable. It would appear Roy played a less than superb gig. (I never heard it so no opinion from me). I also concure...this is a steel guitar site. Let's keep it that way....and let's enjoy our friendships.

A few months ago, a well known female singer (who I choose not to name) was on the TV portion of the GOO.

She was so off-key it was hard to believe.

I know all about Pro-Tools, etc, but I'm sure she never would have made it to any level if she was really that tone deaf.

I suspect there's some technical issue here.
Is the monitor mix reliable on that stage?

....some of those tv engineers can really get out in la-la land....I remember one taping I "walked" on because they decided that the amps were "ugly" on-camera and they wanted them behind a curtain a looooonnng way from the musicians...I couldn't hear anything...and that was long before I got old and lost my hearing..... www.genejones.com ......

Since it's not about 'Steel Players', I'm closing this topic.
