My long time friend Jim Florence, may you RIP Jim, I think came as close to copying Mooney as anyone could. He played a D-11 ZB
and it was tuned to Mooney's tuning on the back neck. It was crazy to me but Jim sure could make it sound good. He used to play in mine and my wife's band. What a hoot he was. And he could play any song on the spot and play it well. What a joy it was to have him as a friend and mentor. J.R. Rose
