The first time I saw Mike, I don't remember it. Around 1979 1980 I was living in Boston and someone invited me to a concert to see Seldom Scene. I never heard of them. I particularly remember the concert because some solo act, a guy who played Canadian fiddle tunes got heckled mercilessly , everyone screaming for Seldom Scene. I remember feeling so bad for the guy.

Seldom Scene played. I remember I liked it, but not much more. They didn't mean anything to me at the time. I have no memory of Mike's playing, sadly.

Great man. I feel honored to have taken lessons from him.
