Great video. I'm always amazed at how far out he wore his thumb pick. When I try that, it flies off and pokes the eye out of someone in the first row.
I'm so glad you got to spend that time with him, and share it with the rest of us. Thank you.

Sitting two feet from Buddy as he played was better than watching Picasso paint! The artistry, technique and musicality was just incredible to watch and hear that day. I asked Buddy if he would show me the run he used to get from the 5 chord back to the 1 chord in "My weakness is too strong". He kindly demonstrated and explained it. Then he showed my 4 or 5 variations on that run. I still get cold chills when I listen to either of his versions of the song (instrumental version or with Ray Pennington singing it). His technique on that still baffles me. Looked so simple but there was a lot going on there besides hitting the right notes! That's why Buddy was Buddy
and the rest of us just looked on in amazement!

Yes Ken you hit right on. [thats why Buddy was Buddy] i often wonder did he realize he was always 10 notches above all the rest. but he never seem to push that side of things. every video i have ever watched he was all ways smiling. and enjoying him self. he just seemed to play with such little effort. amazing. he new his guitar upside down inside out. downside up. you name it . God love em .

Thanks Sid... I don’t think ANY of us will EVER grow tired of watching Buddy play, or hearing stories related to him.

Great video of the master jamming at home, awesome.
One question if I may Sid, I noticed marks on Buddy's left middle finger and ring finger. Looks like maybe a 3rd string may have bit him sometime earlier? A least that's what mine have looked like. I hate when that happens, and it's usually my fault not looking how I was winding.
But again, awesome video.

Help Needed Downloading
If any of you guys download this "HUDSON-EMMONS", video, would you please send me a copy? I can not download some things here in China. If you can help, please send me a Forum email or PM and I will send my email address. Not sure whether it can be sent using Forum email.
It was encouraging to hear Buddy was still playing in his later years.
Thanks so much,
stevet

the value of friendship. Old friends shine like diamonds, you can always call them and - most important - you can't buy them.

That's extremely precious stuff. I had some similar experiences when Joaquin Murphey would call me up and say "come on over cause I want you to hear what I've been working on". So I would go over to his house, sit on his sofa with his steel facing me and with my feet resting on his pedal rack I would lay back and he would play to me for hours. That happened many times. I have no video of it unfortunately because being on camera made him nervous.
