I have been kicking this around for about 4 years. Yes the GK has outputs on the bottom but I have another panel that can be mounted above the unit figured out.

I was worried about hearing it too but with the 12" speaker we plugged it in at a friends house, he plugged in a Tele I built and hit a lick - he said is that full volume - I said no it is half - he said crank it - I twisted the knob he hit a lick - he said WOW that has it - I said do you want me to turn it up to 10 - he said I thought you did - I said NO that is 5 - he then said where was the first time - I smiled and said half ....... between zero and 1 - nuff said.

I have had several have that concern but as you say they can do a monitor or external speaker.

It was originally intended as a unit for the bedroom type player - since I have bought steelseats I hear from lots of people that do not play out and wanted something. Since I introduced it, I have had lots more people asking about gigin with it.

I am going to the Dallas show next week so should hear lots and lots of opinions.

Thanks again

I have been using the MB200 for about 2 years now. I even run 2 each 12" and some times 2 each 15" Over all the single 15" have the best sound for me using a BW1501. I have been looking at going the hybred tube pre amp in the Fusion 500. Never ran out of power so far using the MB200. Looking forward to see this in action. See you next weekend. you all travel safe out there.

Bring your GK MB 200 and we can plug it in. I have a different control head on this one - but I have have had several people that I know using one.

If you want to "test drive" it you are welcome to do that.

This is the first one and I plan to use offer what customers want rather that a rigid control and speaker.

Look forward to talking to you next week and learning what you rally want.

Great idea, Joe! FIY: don't forget the MB200 is only stable down to 4 ohms, so you'd want to put an 8 ohm speaker in the box (which will give you 140+/- watts) and then parallel your external speaker output jack and mark it "8 ohms only". That way you'll get your full 200 watts into a 4 ohm load with both speakers. Also, according to the folks at G+K, you don't want to use 2 different sized speakers even if they're both 8 ohm. They said "ABSOLUTELY NOT" whe I asked them. I use my MB200 in a home brew cabinet with a 12" SICA, 4 ohm speaker and it's plenty for what I do - real light, too!

Thanks Skip - I have talked to G K several times and they seem very helpful.

I am glad to get all the input from people I can get. I have talked to people that have used them and experience is sometimes the best too.

Joe :)

I have had some requests to test drive the Seat-Amp and people are asking if they can use their rack or GK mb 200 for example.

I have a jumper wire so I can disconnect my control and use yours - very easy to switch to your controls.

Loading the trailer and truck (on an email break - that is kinda like a coffee break but with iced tea)

Come by and say hi.

There was lots of interest in the Seat-Amp in Dallas and then last weekend at a Guitar Show in Tempe, AZ - besides lots of interest there have been some ordered. More photos to follow.

Nice...I've been using my amp for a chair since college...and back then it also functioned as a dinner table...lol...

I actually prefer the sound of the room reflections when sitting on an amp to the beaminess of a cone and dustcap.

Cool idea, and kudo's for moving ahead on it! The pac a seat itself was viewed as a slightly unusual idea in the day, and now every steel player has two of them!
