I saw Morrell play pedal steel only one time. An old beatup ShoBud that you could grow turnips on the neck. He played great. His non-pedal playing was incredible. Jody.

I was working at MSA the day Tom & Maurice went to do that cut, Tom went around our show room of used guitars and strummed a few, and hit a pedal or two, then he said, this one will do....and off they went!!... Tom was a just Great player...and a Hero of mine.. :D

Jim. Let's say it was an intuitive good guess. I started listening to Tom Morrel's Time Warp top hands several years ago and love his music. Wish he was still around. I stumbled on to your "Eight To The Bar CD later and you made mention of Mr. Morrel's music in the liner notes so I had a flash that you were featuring him. I know it's weird. The other cats are some of the greatest; I did not mean to imply that you would never chose to feature the others on the list. By the way I really liked you version of "Straight No Chaser" on the above mentioned CD. Don D>

OK, Don, thanks for 'splainin' that to me. But, just for the record, it was the 'Bop-a-billy Swing!' CD by my band, Beats Walkin' that contains the song 'Straight, No Chaser' and the reference to Morrell in the liner notes. Glad you liked it!
Best,
