I played with Elvis in Vegas for short time in late 1960,s
Unfortunately, I woke up right in the middle of the first song and couldn't get back to Vegas or get back to sleep either.

On WHAT TUNES.....................did he play?
I'd be very interested for the sake of the JBFC.... to learn what songs/albums that JERRY BYRD purportedly recorded. Never heard of this before so am most interested.

Ray:
Here is the session log regarding Jerry Byrd. It looks like an overdub session at which Elvis may not have been present?

I've Sat on Bill Staffords Parents Front Porch in Gulfport Ms. in The 1970's And Looked Across Pass Road to a neighborhood Grocery Store where Elvis used to frequent around 1953 before his Sun Record Days. I've had several Gulfport Musicians including Bill Stafford tell me that Elvis worked the Bars in the Gulfport - Biloxi area before he was the "overnight success" in Memphis on Sun Records.
Bill Stafford may very well be the First Elvis Steeler, probably around 1953 in that time frame. I know Bill had a break in his Naval Service around that time, later on went back in the Navy and retired around 1973. Bill Showed me all the Newspaper Clippings about Elvis being on the Gulf Coast Around that 1953 Time Frame. Elvis also Dated a Girl in Bill Staffords parents, Handsboro Ms neighborhood. Who knows, Elvis may have left some woods colts on The Gulf Coast

Ray: That's the one I was referring to. I guess, unless anyone has contact with one of the others at the session, or a recording engineer present, we shall probably never know whether Elvis was present too.Mitch Drumm wrote:Ray: Here is the session log regarding Jerry Byrd.
